[-empyre-] intro

hi all

<clears throat>

ok, my turn to be the provocateur. i'm adrian miles. i work at rmit in melbourne australia and at intermedia in bergen norway.

my theme for the fortnight is what i call vogs. vogs are derived from blogs and are sort of video blogs. to start this i'll quote the vog manifesto (vogma):

 a vog respects bandwidth
 a vog is not streaming video (this is not the reinvention of television)
 a vog uses performative video and/or audio
 a vog is personal
 a vog uses available technology
 a vog experiments with writerly video and audio
 a vog lies between writing and the televisual
 a vog explores the proximate distance of words and moving media
 a vog is dziga vertov with a mac and a modem

to set a series of agendas so that you cna now argue about me without me i'm sending several terse statements about vogs. quote, reply, parry as you wish :-)

</clears throat>

cheers
adrian miles
